Röntgen Piano Trio

The Röntgen Piano Trio is named after the German-born Dutch composer Julius Röntgen (1855-1932). Born in Leipzig and a product of the “Leipzig school” that included composers such as Mendelssohn and Schumann, Röntgen composed over 600 works and was a celebrated musician throughout northern Europe. He lived most of his life in Holland and became known as the “Dutch Brahms”. His post-romantic style is steeped in German musical tradition and is sure to delight new audiences.

The trio has performed internationally in 2018/19 and is committed to illuminating the darker corners of the piano trio literature while giving fresh interpretations of the masterworks in that genre.
